Before you file: checklist

Note the storm date. Insurers ask for the date of loss — check local weather records if unsure.
Photograph everything — roof, gutters, screens, AC fins, fence and any interior leaks.
Get a professional inspection first. Don't file until you know you actually have damage — we'll tell you straight.
Find your policy & deductible. Know if you have RCV (replacement cost) or ACV (actual cash value).
Save emergency-repair receipts. Tarping or stopping a leak is usually reimbursable.
Meet the adjuster with your contractor. We'll be on the roof with them so nothing gets missed.
Keep a claim log. Names, dates, claim number and every call — all in one place.
Don't sign away your claim. Avoid "we'll waive your deductible" offers — that's insurance fraud and a red flag.
